Barcelona
Any city that offers a beach nearby is a winner for us! But do watch your wallet and don’t wander around the gothic quarter at night. Miss Gaudi’s triumphant architecture at your peril.
Hotel
The Pulitzer is in a fairly quiet street but very central (just off La Rambla). A modern, chic hotel not overly luxurious but very comfortable. The best feature is the beautiful roof terrace and art deco themed bar. Good value. Great location. http://www.hotelpulitzer.es.

HINT: Try Pinchos – original Basque bite sized tapas. You’ll find they are served in most good bars and restaurants.
Bar Pinotxo La Boqueria 466-467, La Rambla 89 Area: An essential for any market bar lover, just by the entrance on the right –fabulous tapas and daily specials served in a buzzy atmosphere.
Can Majó, C/Almirall Aixada 23 Area:Seafront Metro: Barceloneta Fabulous fresh seafood and paella right on the seafront.
Ginger C/Palma de Sant Just 1 Area Barrí Gňtic Metro Jaume I Fabulous art deco bar, mighty fine tapas and live music to boot. Give it a whirl.
Sightseeing
HINT: Gaudi, Gaudi and more Gaudi. What a visionary! You simply must see;
Casa Bastllo (http://www.casabatllo.es/) – spectacular architecture. DO pay to go inside the house, it’s the most amazing design work you’ll ever see.
Park Guell – a short bus ride from La Rambla for town planning Gaudi style. The gingerbread house type architecture is totally unique. The park offers delicious views over the city.
Markets
La Boqueria (http://www.boqueria.info/) a feast of a market (a bit like Borough Market in London) it’s full of delightful tapas bars. It’s great fun to wander around lusting over the food.
Shopping
La Barri Gotic wander around the ancient alleyways, it really gives a feel for Barcelona of old. We really liked the Born area – lots of hip shops and creative outlets to stumble upon.
