Family Planning for Summer Holidays

27.04.2011 By: cp

Planning a Summer holiday for you and your gal is one thing but planning one with the kids in mind is quite another.  You probably expect that you will be in for a very different holiday now that your car is stuffed to the roof rack with kiddy gear and your best beach frock is now being used to mop up unmentionable mess.  So aside from the ‘gay and lesbian friendly’ thing you will also now be looking for ‘child friendly’ places to stay.

From the get go Further Afield has always supported alternative family holidays and believe very strongly in the Littlepink ethos of helping same-sex parents feel comfortable and supported at home or away. So we quickly developed a ‘child friendly’ theme to our website of hand-picked places to stay for gay and lesbian travellers.

Here is a selection of some of our favourites family friendly places to stay in the UK, France, Spain and Italy. There are many more at www.furtherafield.com

Thanks for this article and in particular for something which addresses the needs of lesbian parents. My partner and I have booked to take our 6 year old son to Sitges this summer and we wondered if any other lesbian parents out there had any experiences of this they could share with us? We would be grateful to hear any suggestion of where to go, where to avoid and just the general impression!

Thanks

Sitges is beautiful with something for every one. We went year after year before children and stayed at Camping Sitges. If you can't consider a tent under trees for your weeks holiday, they also have small cabins with bedrooms, kitchen and table and chairs outside. It is v cheap and v relaxed. Kids from all countries romp around the pool and camp site. Highly recommended. The walk along the promenade towards town is one of life's real pleasures. Enjoy!
