Launch of Littlepink & Information
We’ve been thinking and talking about launching Littlepink for such a long time now. At the end of last year, we finally pushed the button on a project that is very dear to our hearts. We want children of same-sex parents to know they are not unique and socialize with other children from similar families.
Bringing together same-sex parents and their children is a way to provide informal support. When we announced the launch of Littlepink in our newsletter, the response was overwhelming. Obviously Citypink members want the same thing as us-yes! Finally we could connect the dots and bring together parents, like ourselves, who are all in the same privileged boat of having wonderful unconventional families.
Just before Christmas, the children got treated to The Snowman, a magical show at the Peacock theatre. Unfortunately I can’t tell you much about it as our son refused to watch it. I can, however, describe the foyer rather well. Afterwards we all donned our woolly hats and pushed on through the rain with our buggies for a well-deserved glass of wine. Can you imagine 19 adults and 13 children in a restaurant having lunch? Well, actually we couldn’t either but as it turns out it was great fun. As the host and chief bottle washer, I can assure you, it was me who needed a nap when we got home.
In all seriousness, it was great to meet and get to know other same-sex parents. Understanding the challenges that we face can be tackled best from within our own community. For this reason along with the reaction from Citypink parents (not to mention the success of our launch) we have high hopes for Littlepink. Now that we’ve recovered, we can’t wait for Littlepink event no.2!
PLUS we would like to encourage discussion and debate over matters for same-sex families and those considering having children. Coming very soon will be an opportunity for Littlepink members to discuss issues on the FORUM page in the Connect section of our website.
PLUS Kimberley at Lester Aldridge, will provide insight on a range of subjects from conception to surrogacy to adoption in relation to family law. These discussions will only visible to Littlepink members.
PLUS once you join Littlepink, you can network with other same-sex parents, would-be parents and families on-line via Connect - especially useful for those who live outside of London.

2010 Events
We often get asked what kind of events we run so we wanted to add a note about some of our events since we launched a year ago. Every month we go to Notting Hill Harbour Club on a Saturday afternoon. The children have tennis coaching for an hour. Parents and kids can enjoy the lovely swimming pool facilities followed by tea and a movie in our own private space. It's a relaxing afternoon where parents get enough time to chat and the kids are happy playing together and enjoying the activities.
We made the most of the weather this year by organizing some picnics throughout the summer where everyone turned up with food and blankets and enjoyed hanging out together in the park.
We were also thrilled to have Ruth Hunt, Deputy Director of Public Affairs for Stonewall, present new research pioneering understanding of the current experience of the children of lesbian and gay parents in May.
On October 23rd we'll be hosting a Littlepink party at the Alternative Families Show in the Grand Connaught Rooms.
In December we'll be taking everyone to a good old fashioned Christmas panto followed by a party. Look out for upcoming events on the Littlepink events page.
A Very Happy New Year to You All!
We'd like to wish all Citypink members much happiness in 2012. Thank you for the wonderful support...
